To walk is so much more than it seems at first. To walk, slowly or fast, is getting things moving, mobilizes powers and possibilities of which you might not have known that you have them. It’s opening up new ways – literally – and brings you to places you would’ve never seen otherwise. Suddenly you see new horizons and can imagine to do things, of which you might not even have dared to dream before.
Once you have been walking for the first few weeks, you might wanna do more. Maybe you wanna walk more often or maybe do a nice hike. Maybe you want to take up jogging again and participate in a city run. Maybe you even want to try out other things that involve moving your body like Yoga, Pilates or weight lifting. Whatever it may be, it will support you even more towards good health and I promise you, you’ll feel more comfortable in your body. An unknow person once said: «We are not recovering over time but in the time we are walking.» How right that person was! Walking stimulates your digestion and promotes deep sleep. It strentghens your muscels, your heart and your bones and dismantles the stress hormon adrenalin. It improves your metabolism, your breathing and concentration and is helping when you experience back pain. Your body is dismantling pollutants faster, your immune system gets stronger, your blood circulation improves, through which your body and mind are going to be able to relax more easily. My oncle always said: «If you’ve got something important to talk about with someone or need to free your mind, go for a walk.» And every time you do that, you not only get rewarded with beautiful nature and fresh air, but also with the most wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Are all of these not a lot of good reasons to start walking again and see where it will take you?
